How it works.

Preaching fellows come from a wide range of denominations, ages, and backgrounds

As a preaching fellow you'll be part of small group led by a mentor who'll guide your group in discussions, offer sage wisdom on preaching, and support you in your vocation as a public proclaimer of the gospel. Three times during the program year, we'll gather all the preaching fellows for an in-person homiletical bash. You'll hear interesting and challenging speakers, talk with other preachers, and encounter other sinners who know how to deliver the goods. Gatherings will be on the Grand View University campus in Des Moines, Iowa, and in other locations in southern California and Virginia (all of it, by the way, on our dime). Each month in-between, we'll have a Zoom meeting with the whole cohort of preaching fellows, another of just your small group, a one-on-one conversation with your mentor, and a chance to share sermons and get feedback. Instead of exploring the world of clever anecdotes, relatable presentation, and using humor in preaching, we'll focus on the theology that will help you sharpen your understanding of Jesus Christ and his benefits. You can expect to hear more about law and gospel, the captive will, and what the gospel actually is. And you'll hear preachers and teachers use these tools as a way into the scriptures that you regularly preach on.
